The involvement of IPs in the international processes and institutions supporting pastoralism such as the European Union (EU), ILO 169, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), CELEP, IUCN, IFAD is one of the most efficient and ecologically friendly way to draw value. Due to climate change shocks it is prudent for IPs to engage in the international processes like United Nation Framework on Climate Change (UNFCC), UNDRIP that pushes for the recognition of Indigenous peoples and their rights, United Nation Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW) that advocates for equality in social and economic development there is need to engage indigenous rural women their plight and progressive realization of their rights , United Nation Permanent Forum on Indigenous Peoples Issues, they also need to engage with regional mechanisms such as the African Commission on Human and Peoples rights (ACHPR), Africa Union (AU) framework for pastoralism in Africa as well as at the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and East Africa Community (EAC).
